September 9, 2009 — Jeff LeFever, founder, CEO, and president of the Foundation for the Biblical Arts, travels the world photo-documenting sacred space with the intent of marching forward the awareness of and the need for consecrated space in communities throughout the United States.

LeFever’s photographs are used to inspire church leaders and congregations to more spiritual contributions in our arts and culture.

LeFever’s recent month in the Czech Republic was solely supported by Sponsors through his Sponsorship Program. The program is a simple one with large returns and benefits to his Sponsors. It works like this: When an individual or group donates $200 or more to a particular mission (for example, the Czech Republic), the Sponsor becomes a partner in the LeFever’s building of images. LeFever keeps Sponsors involved in the mission with an updated mission blog. Upon return, LeFever gives each sponsor a print of their choice from his select images as a gratuity for their participation. Following that, a trip journal is delivered for free to each sponsor in the form of an electronic PDF file. The Sponsors get first release of the Journals, which get released for sale to the public 6 months after Sponsor release. Sponsors are also given a special 15% discount on prints for all purchases at the LeFever Online store. Sponsor ships of $500 or more donated through the Foundation for the Biblical Arts are also given a tax deduction for their charity along with all the rest of the perks. Donations for the Czech trip ranged from $200 (the minimum) to $1000.

The Foundation for the Biblical Arts is a 501c3 not for profit corporation involved in education and support of the arts for churches in America. The Foundation for Biblical Arts exists to advance awareness, dialog, and the practice of consecrated spaces. Part of this is in direct connection through its coming website utilizing blog formats for leaders to discuss theological expressions with in the worship space, both liturgical and non-liturgical, ideas for promoting and supporting the arts financially within the church, cultures at odds between the spiritual and the secular, and for non leaders with discussions on the impressions left by experiences with the sacred space…

LeFever announces that he is also drafting the first of its kind, Art and Theology Sabbatical for church leaders. This will become a major function for the FBA and add an active educational portion to the Foundation in helping to inspire through insight and awareness of the arts as language and the power of community galvanized in visual identity. Parts of the sabbatical reveal the process of gentrification and the huge role art plays. If everything goes according to plan with grants, this should be a free program for a limited number of church leaders annually.

Because people are getting involved by buying prints, Jeff said that half of his sales from his online store can be contributed to the FBA for those who actively make the request with a particular promo code. For the opportunity to support this effort and get a beautiful lab print too, buy prints at JeffLeFever.com- when using this promo code at check out, half2fba , 50% of the sales price will be donated to the Foundation.

Beginning this month, September, the FBA and LeFever contracted to offer the following to any church wanting a stock library of images of their church use. For the cost of expenses (travel, accommodations, board plus two days), Jeff will travel to the church and provide his special style of photo documentation. “Love Offerings” or other donations are accepted for the FBA as a gratuity if the participating churches feel so inclined. Examples of his style of documentation come in two forms and can be seen here: non-document, lefever.com/wCg1 and commercial style, lefever.com/wCg2.
